The difference between ST1 and 2 would be a bit bigger if the car had been measured without DP on ST1 and also the base number would be slightly lower without DP but still great results.Power approaching 400whp on a pretty conservative tune is impressive to say the least. The BMW M340i is an impressive car both on paper and in the real world. A lot of the M340i’s performance can be attributed to the engine that BMW chose for it. The B58B3 3.0L inline 6-cylinder is an engine that has a reputation of being a velvety heathen. Like Satan in a smoking jacket. Downpipe is the single biggest hardware mod for the B58. HPFP being second for the 1st gen BMW engines. The TU HPFP are better. The tune obviously makes a big difference, and octane in the fuel is a large factor as well. If applicable it can also raise the RPM Limiter, top speed limit removal, octane ignition timing, optimization of fuel quality, and more power!All these modern engines use the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor to measure the air in to apply the proper amount of fuel. You will eventually reach the fuel cap in a stock tune, but you'd never see it from a DP and exhaust. You really need the tune to unlock the potential of the DP.You don't need a tune for the downpipe and you don't need a downpipe if you're tuned. That being said, without a tune you'll get CEL and not a huge power gain with the dp. And if you get the tune, you'll get more power but be limited with the stock dp.
